POSITION SUMMARY: Oversee the financial activities of the stations consistent with strong internal controls. Provide accurate, meaningful and timely financial reporting, analysis and budgeting. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate policies.


• Responsible for financial matters related to the stations, ensuring that all accounting activities, general ledger reporting, monthly closings, reconciliations and analysis are carried out accurately and in a timely manner, as well as in compliance with internal and external policies and procedures
• Prepare and maintain General Ledger and Financial Statements for both WTOP and WFED
• Responsible for bi-weekly payroll, as well as monthly closing activities
• Prepare balance sheet reporting and reconciliations
• Play a key role in the development and preparation of annual operating and capital budgets
• Ensure adherence to established financial and accounting policies
• Maintain internal control structure for all accounting and finance systems and transactions
• Advise management on cost controls and operating efficiencies
• Maintain security and confidentiality of all company processes, data and information
• Oversee Accounting Department staff of two


• Degree in Accounting, Business or Management, preferred
• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in all aspects of accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, budgets, general ledger, financial statements and trade accounting), preferably in a broadcast environment. Working knowledge of Marketron a strong plus
• Excellent knowledge of and working experience with General Ledger systems (Novision a plus) and Payroll systems (ADP a plus)
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Database products
• Ability to work quickly and accurately and meet deadlines under pressure situations
• Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
• Ability to work in compliance with company policies and procedure.
• Ability to function in a team environment
• Ability to work established schedule and other hours as needed


• Major market experience
• Broadcast media industry experience


• Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing
• Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to manipulate computer keys and general office equipment (telephone, copier, calculator, etc.) for extended periods of time
• Ability to hear and speak clearly and follow both oral and written direction
