Spanish Broadcasting System reported last week that its consolidated net revenues fell 6 percent in Q1, led by a 10 percent net revenue decline for radio, to $33 million from $36.8 million.

Entravision Reports 'Challenging' 2007
Entravision last week reported that fourth-quarter revenue was down both in its radio division and for the company overall. Q4 2007 radio revenue fell 3 percent, to $23.1 million from $23.8 million, with Entravision attributing the decline to lost revenue due to the sale of its Dallas and Tucson stations. The company's overall Q4 revenue -- which includes Entravision's television operations -- fell 2 percent, to $62.5 million.

Study: Record Growth Ahead For Hispanic Media
A new study from SNL Kagan, "Economics of Hispanic TV & Radio in the U.S.," predicts that Hispanic radio's revenue growth will considerably outpace the industry in 2008, rising by 6 percent, to $1.21 billion, compared to expected growth of 2 percent-3 percent for radio overall. Over the next four years, SNL Kagan expects Hispanic radio-station revenues to grow at about 4.9 percent annually.
DOJ Orders Clear Channel To Sell Spanish-Language Stations
As part of the Department of Justice's approval of Clear Channel's long-pending private-equity buyout, the company has been ordered by the Department of Justice to sell radio stations in four markets, including "La Preciosa" outlets KSJO/Houston and KWID/Las Vegas and Latin Pop KLOL/Houston to address competitive issues in both the Spanish-language and general-markets.

Entravision Reports 'Challenging' 2007
Entravision last week reported that fourth-quarter revenue was down both in its radio division and for the company overall. Q4 2007 radio revenue fell 3 percent, to $23.1 million from $23.8 million, with Entravision attributing the decline to lost revenue due to the sale of its Dallas and Tucson stations. The company's overall Q4 revenue -- which includes Entravision's television operations -- fell 2 percent, to $62.5 million.

Spanish Broadcasting System at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, February 25, flipped WCMA-FM/San Juan, Puerto Rico, from Spanish AC (Romance 96.5) to RED 96 (Noticias FM, or News FM). SBS is heralding the station as the first Spanish FM radio outlet to air a 24-hour News format.

Study: Record Growth Ahead For Hispanic Media
A new study from SNL Kagan, "Economics of Hispanic TV & Radio in the U.S.," predicts that Hispanic radio's revenue growth will considerably outpace the industry in 2008, rising by 6 percent, to $1.21 billion, compared to expected growth of 2 percent-3 percent for radio overall. Over the next four years, SNL Kagan expects Hispanic radio-station revenues to grow at about 4.9 percent annually.
DOJ Orders Clear Channel To Sell Spanish-Language Stations
As part of the Department of Justice's approval of Clear Channel's long-pending private-equity buyout, the company has been ordered by the Department of Justice to sell radio stations in four markets, including "La Preciosa" outlets KSJO/Houston and KWID/Las Vegas and Latin Pop KLOL/Houston to address competitive issues in both the Spanish-language and general-markets.
