WAMC-Albany Engineer Injured In House Fire
James Scholefield, chief engineer at WAMC-Albany, was treated for burns after trying to rescue family members from a house fire that killed his daughter and two others. His 13-year-old son, who ran next door to ask neighbors to report the fire, survived the fire, as did the boy’s mother, Korrena Salerno. Killed were the couple's daughter, Carianne, her grandmother Linda Forstrom, 55, and Forstrom's daughter, Mara Mahig, according to the radio station. Investigators were still combing through the charred remains of the home at noon Monday. The home was completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation. A fund to assist the Scholefield family has been established at HSBC Bank. Donations can be sent to: The Scholefield Family Relief Fund, Care of HSBC Bank, 899 Western Avenue, Albany, N.Y., 12203.
