Power Strip Makes Universal Remote More Universal
March 6, 2009: A Chinese company has introduced an IR power strip designed to let anything plugged into it be turned on and off by any programmable universal remote controlAside from facilitating the ideal of never having to get up to turn anything on or off, ever, the idea behind this is to save on "vampire power" by turning electronics off at the power strip rather than leaving them on standby. Also, says the maker, it can safeguard equipment from overheating or in a storm.
