Baltimore Gets A New Radio Station, On HD And Online

February 24, 2009: Towson University's noncommercial WTMD-FM/Baltimore has launched a new, all-local channel on its HD2 subchannel and online at www.wtmd.org. All the music is from Baltimore-based musicians, a focus WTMD says is a first for a public radio station.

WTMD GM Stephen Yasko said, "Baltimore is one of the most important music scenes in America today, and it only seemed natural to make sure that the musicians who play their hearts out here also have a radio station where they can be heard at any time."

WTMD also earned congrats from iBiquity President/CEO Bob Struble, who said,"Providing the community withsounds of local artists is an excellent use of HD Radio technology. I look forward to listening to the Baltimore Channel FM/HD2 on the way to work." iBiquity is based in Columbia, MD.

Along with the new audio channel, WTMD has an extensive video archive of Baltimore bands and performances, and it's offering free downloads from the channel's featured artists of the month.
