Masters And WestwoodOne To Settle Lawsuit?
Radio Ink has learned that an official announcement can be expected any day stating that the lawsuit filed by Talk Radio Network (TRN) CEO Mark Masters against Dial Global has been settled and Masters will again be represented by that company, which is now WestwoodOne (owned by Cumulus). This all began in August of 2012 when Masters filed a 38-page lawsuit against Dial Global, alleging Dial Global's power had grown to the point where the company was competing with the very clients it was representing. This suit triggered Dial to discontinue representation of TRN until settlement.
Because TRN counted on revenues from Dial Global, which came to a halt, Masters found himself in a difficult position, resulting in immediate layoffs and potential damage to his business. Masters sued Dial Global and many of its executives and Radio Ink believes all of the suits have been settled. Since the lawsuit, Dial Global changed management, then was absorbed into WestwoodOne, which was acquired by Cumulus Media, all which are now under the WestwoodOne umbrella. We reached out to both Cumulus and Masters for comment and have not received comment or confirmation.
