Emmis Unveils New TagStation Products

With the anticipated launch of FM-enabled smartphones with NextRadio, Emmis will be pitching several new TagStation products to broadcasters this week at the NAB in Las Vagas. One is the TagStation Free Logo Service; the other is a feature for News/Talk and Sports broadcasts. Emmis will have live demos of TagStation and the NextRadio smartphone app at C955.

With the TagStation Free Logo Service, a station is able to upload a branding image that will display as default artwork in the NextRadio app as well as call letters, format, station name, and slogan. Though every radio station within range of the smartphone’s FM receiver will be represented based on current FCC database lists, this basic level of station integration creates a compelling experience within the app as the user is able to quickly associate their local stations with familiar visuals while browsing.

For news and sports stations, a schedule of broadcast events can now be created that parallels on-air programming so listeners can see synchronized text and images displayed in the NextRadio app. Scheduled events are shown when automation-triggered events have expired or are unavailable. The schedule interface is designed to accommodate everything from a simple on-air program schedule to more complex non-music format programming; serve a branding image, show title, and call-in action for a talk program; display a DJ’s photo, name, and website link during an in-studio mix on a music station. With the new schedule feature, TagStation provides a simple way for any format to visualize on-air programming.
