Lotus Comes up HUGE For Local Hospital

10-4-2012

Congratulations to Lotus Communications in Bakersfield for being nationally recognized for its support of the Children’s Miracle Network. Lotus received the “Most Innovative Practice” award for having the most successful and innovative fundraising campaign. Despite Bakersfield being ranked the fourth-poorest city in the nation, Lotus’ radiothon raised nearly $80,000 in pledges and donations that will directly benefit their local Mercy Memorial Hospital and its efforts to save premature babies.

Lotus Bakersfield stations include: ESPN Deportes KWAC-AM, Spanish Ranchera KCHJ-AM, Spanish Regional Mexicana KIWI-FM, Adult Spanish Hits KPSL-FM, and Classic Hits KVMX-FM.

Lotus Communications is one of the largest privately owned Radio Station Groups in the United States. It was founded in 1962 by Howard A. Kalmenson with the purchase of KWKW, one of Los Angeles’ original Spanish-language radio stations. In 2012, Kalmenson was awarded the Medallas de Cortez Lifetime Achievement Award from Radio Ink honoring his long record of dedication and commitment to Spanish-language radio. Lotus currently owns and operates a total of 27 radio stations in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas. The formats consist of 13 English, 13 Spanish, and 1 Farsi.  Lotus also owns three low-power television stations in Phoenix, Tampa, and Houston.  Additionally, the company owns three e-commerce sites under its subsidiary, Lotus Internet Corp.  Based in Los Angeles, the company employs more than 400 people. For more information, visit www.lotuscorp.com.
