Irma Blanco Out at KBIG After 8 Years

Blanco confirms to Radio Ink that Clear Channel has not renewed her contract at the Los Angeles station. Blanco was with KBIG with Charlie Tuna and stayed thru the transition to MYfm and Valentine. She's also worked for Total Traffic, Mega, Hot, and KGGI in California with John London and in Chicago with Mancow.

She says she'd love to stay in radio. "It's my first love. It's different everyday and that's what makes it so exciting to me. Even after 20 plus years. But I'm open to other things as well. Voice over work. Narrating (Spanish or English). She jokes, "maybe even character voices. My daughter and her friends think I'm pretty funny when I read books and at playdates."

Irma, I miss you. For years I enjoyed listening to you. Many of the things you went through or told on air were so similar to what I have experienced. It felt great to know I wasn't the only one with funny and interesting family situations, especially after the birth of your daughter. There's always a celebration. Hope we get to hear you soon on the air. You made my workday flash by.

Hi Irma
I really miss you in the morning at MyFM.
I know that better, bigger things await you. You are a very smart person and I know you will find a new family soon. Sofia and your husband are lucky to have you. I wish you the best. I am proud of you and all Latinas out there that continue to work hard every day!
Best of Luck,
Edna, Los Angeles

For weeks I kept wondering where you went and they now have a new person (she is good too) but I really missed you and Val's chemistry. You have a great ability to capture your listener and keep people interested.
The best to you and your family. A great loss on that day!

Hi Irma
I'm very sad and upset you're no longer at MY FM. I live very close to my job like the other listeners so I don't have a lot time to listen to the radio and like some of them I wondered what happened to you. All of a sudden you were gone. I kept thinking you were either on leave or an extended vacation.
I miss listening to you on the radio and hearing about Sofia.
I wish you the best and truly hope to hear your voice and your intelligent coments again.
Delfina R.
