Simmons Buys Three In SLC

June 18, 2010: Simmons Media Group has agreed to buy Rhythmic KUUU (U92), Top 40 KUDD (Mix), and Triple A KYLZ (The Point) and certain other assets from Millcreek Broadcasting and an affiliate.

Simmons already owns KXRK, KEGA, KYMV, KJQN, and KZNS-AM in SLC, so to meet FCC ownership limits several Salt Lake City or Millcreek stations will be put into divestiture trusts and will be managed independently of Simmons until they can be sold.

"We are excited to create a larger platform of radio stations that will compete very strongly in the Salt Lake City market," Simmons Chairman/CEO David Simmons said.

Millcreek was created with the purchase of KTLE-FM/Salt Lake City in 1999, flipping it to Rhythmic as KUUU, and it later acquired Mix and the Point. Simmons and Millcreek will continue to operate separately until the license transfers are approved by the FCC.
