Ron Ruth was a radio treasure.Blessed with Street Smarts and impish sense of humor. Ron was GM of our Eastman-owned KAFY- Bakersfield.before he went to WTMI --Classical music in Miami. I recommended Ron for WQAM to Bud Armstrong at Storz. We repped Bud in St Louis. Told Ron to get the job he'd have get a short haircut--wear a suit--white shirt and tie vs his Hippie long hair and Beatnik blue jeans. He argued like crazy but did and got the job. Ron was a clasy guy when Radio was lots of fun. We'll miss Ron.

I met and began my friendship with Ron in 1972 when I tried to lure him to KHJ...he went to Europe instead. Since then I have worked with him...for him...around him...and because of him. Ron is the guy that was the very soul of the small business attitude of radio in the 60's, 70's and 80's. He knew us ALL and cared for us ALL in the times when Radio was MAGIC and built on personal contacts and a belief that RADIO WORKS...Ron promised us that it would... it did.
Bless you my friend

I had the privilege of first meeting Ron when I was a cub radio salesperson in Miami. Then and throughout the years he always treated me and others with respect, warmth and a contagious brand of enthusiasm all of which made him so many friends!

Not only did I know him as a terrific RADIO GUY but as a friend for the past twenty five years. Ron I'll always remember our time together at Transtar and will miss seeing you at the RAB events.

Thanks RL for scooping me up and whisking me away to tropical paradise in the Aloha State and then to Colorful Colorado where I truly cut my teeth. Not to sure Miami would have been as kind to me as you were all my life. I would know far less of the world without your cosmopolitan tutelage! What an exciting childhood I had, HUGE thanks to you. You made our world a better place and mine a wonderland fairy tale
