It is with heavy-heart that I learned of the passing of Ron Ruth. A wonderful friend, mentor and colleague that I had the pleasure to work with at RAB for almost 20 years - he was fondly my "uncle Ronnie" as he called me "auntie Gail". Always made me laugh with his jokes and antics. You will be missed, but the memories will last a lifetime. RIP "Uncle"

Ron's passing made me think of all the conventions and meetings we spent together at RAB. What a wonderful combination of wit, experience, kindness, brains and sarcasm! Ron, Gary Fries and Radio Wayne Cornils were a powerful threesome that took RAB to new heights (and had way big fun doing it!) What a good guy.

It was an honor to work with Ron as a colleague at the RAB. In the office next to mine, I came to know him as a first class broadcaster with a kind word, a smile, and a witty comment at every encounter. Radio needs more Ron Ruths, and he will be greatly missed.

In the mid 70s, Ron was the GM at WQAM in Miami. I was a jock with only 3 yrs in the biz and so intimidated I could barely say the call letters correctly. Once while I was reading a live spot, Ron pulled a lighter out of his pocket and set the copy on fire. I sat there stunned as he laughed his way out of the control room. Turning as he left to get my reaction, he said, 'QAM is so hot, we're on fire!', he walked back to his office, his laughter echoing down the hallway.

I first met Ron in the early 70s when we both worked for RKO. In 1985, I chose him to be Best Man at my wedding because that's what he was . . . THE BEST, man! Godspeed, RLR.

I first met Ron while working at WOR-FM in NYC.
Through the years we would see each other at various radio functions and share old radio stories. He was always smiling, making you feel good, and talking about the medium that he loved.
A great guy in many ways! He will be missed but, remembered fondly.

As I read all of these wonderful short stories and compliments about my father I am thankful. Thankful that he was able to touch so many peoples lives throughout his career. He was an extraordinary man with so much love and humor to give. My father meant the world to me.
