We can all only hope that as CC goes down they are forced to liquidate their properties, market by market, at mostly fire-sale prices. Smaller, more nimble, regional operators who don't OVERPAY for these properties are the only people who will actually have any resources to program radio stations with an eye towards growing the business thru a focus on localism and community service - the only reason most people have to listen to radio.

I have been fired from CC twice. The last time was due to RIF, reduction in force. Let me tell you why this happens. Deregulation. Concentrating huge amounts of power in a few hands. This has the power to completely destroy terrestrial radio. And as the ship goes down, the guys with their hands on the throttle will stuff their pockets with all the booty they can grab. Then adios radio, they are wealthy aready, so they really won't care. Honesty, something that is hard to come by in the CC universe. It was a sad day when they were allowed to grow so large.

You're only being reasonable and making sense, Mike. Stop it... immediately. :)

wouldn't work a major market for a major company, and I've been in the business for 36 years. Where is the FCC to put an end to all this madness? A small handful of companies own over half the signals in America, and this is the way radio is run. Overpay for a property, cut it to the bone because you can't bill enough to make the payment, and punish your employees and listeners. Assinine and Insane.

Take heart. As Robert "The Bob" more or less puts it: all will be solved with many more aggressive sales calls.

In the meantime and as we wait for Peter to arrive from Neverland, we best just gird our loins and stand in awe as Clear Channel accepts defeat and attempts to cover their tracks by introducing... McRadio.

And to think - this was once an entertainment, informational and advertising business. Not only a fabulous one, but one with more potential than that in which we are likely to be participating anytime soon.
