Now Entercom Inks Side Deal With Big Machine Label Group

This is big news indeed. It doesn't surprise me that it's slipping under the radar. The implications of this are cutting out the middleman (ie, ASCAP/BMI) and paying artists directly!(? Am I reading this correctly?)
I for one applause this business model. Although I know ASCAP and BMI were founded on good intentions, most people that I know have not received any sort of royalties from either organization. What we HAVE seen is a systematic shutdown of available venues to play all over the United States over excessive fees. Perhaps things are changing...
