I wanted to be a newscaster because of listening to Mike Murphy as a teenager. Didn't happen but he gave a shy girl the courage to at least try in am era when woman just didn't report the news.
It's everyone's loss when a legend passes - especially one that was even greater than any amount of praise one man could ever achieve in only one lifetime.
Rest in peace- Mr. Mike Murphy - prayers to family and friends.

What a great guy who will be sadly missed. I so enjoyed listening to and knowing Murphy through the years. From his run at KMBZ with Mother Merz, to his brief exodus to St. Louis, to his launch of KFIX, and the long run at KCMO.
Parades, Pizza Joints, Saturday Shows at Crown Center, Cattle Drives, UFO's... A true talent, great showman, and a good man. Rest in peace Mike.

I met Mike on a flight going somewhere about 20 years ago. Class act...nice guy. I'm sorry to hear of KC's loss. My condolences to his family and friends.
