(3/27/02) Is Don Geronimo Dead Or Alive? Fan Site Claims He's Dead. Reports Say It's A Hoax.
A website called donandmikefans.com has posted a message that claims Don Geronimo of the Westwood One syndicated program Don and Mike has died of a brain tumor. The site claims the story came from a report written by Frank Ahrens in The Washington Post.

The fan site even links to an article that appears to be written by Ahrens and pops up on a page looking identical to a Washington Post online archived article, right down to the copyright line. See it here:
Dead Don

Here is a piece of the post from the fan site:
"It is with a heavy heart that DonandMikeFans.com announces of the death of Don Geronimo today. The millions of fans nationwide that tuned in daily to hear their hero will sorely miss him.

"It is now apparent that the post made on this site two weeks ago was true.

"Don died during surgery to remove the tumor he so vigorously denied having two weeks ago. A man who lived his life openly on the air, ironically died keeping a huge secret. His funeral will be aired live on WJFK and affiliate stations at 11AM on Thursday, the hour he would have returned to the airwaves after their recent vacation."

R&R online is reporting the story is a hoax.
