(11/28/2001) Kentucky Broadcaster Of 40 Years Hangs It Up.
Russ Hatter has been at WFKY in Frankfort, Kentucky, for 36 years, and he will be doing his last show Friday morning. Hatter was hired in Frankfort by the legendary Bob Doll and stayed on to become an integral part of the morning routine for Kentucky's capital city. From the governor's mansion to the farms dotting the countryside, he was as much a part of the morning routine as the first cup of coffee.

Hatter has been singled out repeatedly for his service to the community, particularly during moments of crisis, such as his work during a deadly tornado outbreak in the ’70s and flooding of the early ’90s. An avid history buff, Hatter is writing a book about Frankfort, and he will be working at Frankfort's new Kentucky River Museum.
