Beasley Settles Indecency Complaints

WASHINGTON -- October 31, 2008: Beasley will pay $85,000 and meet other conditions under a consent decree with the FCC that ends investigations into complaints of indecent content and online-gambling ads on Sports WQAM-AM/Miami and Rock WRXK/Ft. Myers.

The decree, negotiated between the FCC and Beasley, resolves the investigations and forfeiture proceedings, dismisses the complaints against the stations, and dismisses informal objections to WQAM's license renewal. With all the issues resolved, the FCC has granted WQAM's renewal application.

Along with the payment, Beasley has agreed to a compliance plan that includes training on the indecency regulations for all on-air and programming employees and the steps the company will take if there are any further indecency proceedings against WQAM or WRXK. Beasley will also be filing compliance reports with the FCC at 90 days and at one, two, and three years after the effective date of the consent decree.
