Clear Channel Stations Join Martin Luther King Jr. Radiothon
WASHINGTON -- August 27, 2008: Thirty-eight Clear Channel stations will participate in a radiothon August 28 benefiting the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation. The radiothon coincides with the 45th anniversary of Dr. King’s I Have A Dream speech.
Stations will ask listeners to make donations on the Memorial Foundation’s website www.mlkradiothon.org or by calling (800) MLK-1386. Proceeds will go toward the memorial being erected on the Mall in Washington, D.C.
“This is the first time in history that Clear Channel has participated in a radiothon of this magnitude,” said Clear Channel’s SVP/Urban Programming Doc Wynter. “We are proud to be a part of the commemoration and cannot think of a better way to honor Dr. King’s rich legacy than to join forces with the Foundation to raise funds for the Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.”
