ESPN Radio Offers HD Radio Content

BRISTOL, CT -- June 3, 2008: ESPN Radio is launching the ESPN HD Radio network on June 7, offering customizable sports content to the 1,700-plus U.S. stations broadcasting in HD. The launch is timed to coincide with the start of the UEFA Euro Cup 2008 soccer tournament, which will be the new HD network's first offering.

Subscribing stations will use a special network appliance that lets them customize their own ESPN HD stations by choosing content over the Internet, with a menu of options to generate local content. The server will also let subscribers offer datacasts of clock, score, and other non-audio sports material.

"Offering content by utilizing new technologies and new distribution channels is part of our overall strategy of serving the sports fan," said ESPN SVP/Business Units Traug Keller. "Euro 2008 on HD Radio multicast broadcasting is an opportunity to deliver world class soccer to our ESPN Radio listeners while still providing regularly scheduled ESPN Radio programs on the main channel."

The Euro 2008 tournament will take place from June 7-29 in Austria and Switzerland. ESPN HD Radio's play-by-play team is Andy Gray, Adrian Healy, Robbie Mustoe, Derek Rae and Tommy Smyth.
