Medallas De Cortez Presented At Hispanic Radio Conference

MIAMI -- May 20, 2008: "We have a bright future, which is just beginning," said Laura Hagan, President of National Sales for Univision Radio, as she accepted the Medallas de Cortez award as Marketer of the Year at Radio Ink's Hispanic Radio Conference today.

Hagan also accepted on behalf of Univision Radio President/COO Gary Stone, who was named Broadcaster of the Year. "With his mentoring and leadership," she said, "we continue to be the company we are today."

Spanish Broadcasting System's Tropical WSKQ/New York took the award as Station of the Year (Markets 1-10). SBS EVP/COO Marko Radlovic said, "We are very proud of everyone there and the acccomplishments they have made. On behalf of SBS, thank you very much."

The award for Programmer of the Year (Markets 1-10) went to Spanish Broadcasting System/Los Angeles' Pio Ferro, who said, "I was way in the back -- I was really not expecting this!" He said the award was "a great honor" and thanked SBS President/Chairman/CEO Raul Alarcon Jr. for the "trust and opportunity." Programmer of the Year (Markets 11+) winner CBS Radio Tropical WLZL (El Zol)/Washington PD Aracely Rivera, meanwhile, called herself "a poster child for talent development."

Patrick Costa, who oversees Costa Eagle Broadcasting's Tropical WNNW/Boston and clustermates WCEC and WCCM, was named GM of the Year (Markets 1-10) and said he was "deeply moved" by the honor. "I've never been to one of these," he said, "much less expected to win."

Connoisseur Media Regional Mexican KBBX/Omaha's RosAnna Salcido said as she accepted her award for Sales Manager of the Year (Markets 11+), "I sat in the front, but I did not expect this at all." She thanked her co-workers back in Omaha, adding, "Yes, there are Latinos in Omaha!"
