December Radio Revenue Down 5 Percent

NEW YORK -- January 18, 2008: Radio revenue was down again in December, off by 5 percent overall, with local falling 4 percent from December 2006 and national off by 12 percent. Local and national combined fell by 6 percent, while nonspot revenue was up by 12 percent.

The decline in national revenues follows a startling 15 percent decline in November and a 7 percent dip in October, while local was off by 5 percent in November and 2 percent in October. But the gain in nonspot last month also follows a trend: Nonspot rose 9 percent in October and saw a 14 percent gain in November 2007.

The RAB's revenue figures are based on approximately 150 markets as reported by Miller Kaplan Arase & Co.
