Arbitron Debuts Electronic Spot Confirmation System
Arbitron is enhancing the RADAR network radio service with the introduction of what they say will be an improved Spot Confirmation service, an electronic version of Arbitron’s radio network ratings commercial affidavit verification system.
In going “all electronic,” Arbitron says it will increase the number of stations monitored, expand the number of broadcast hours covered and deliver more frequent reports of how well the commercial affidavits provided to the networks by affiliated stations correspond to the actual broadcast of network spots.
The new Spot Confirmation reports will now be delivered quarterly, up from one annual report. The quarterly report will give results for the most recent quarter plus a 12-month rolling result.
“Confirming the affidavits that are used by RADAR networks has always been an important element in the overall accountability of network radio. By completing our transition to all electronic monitoring, we are able to devise the most comprehensive spot verification system ever used in the RADAR network radio ratings service,” said Bruce Supovitz, vice president, National Radio Services for Arbitron. “In 2007, we will completely retire the manual monitoring system that had been the mainstay of RADAR affidavit verification service since 1974.”
