LA Gets New Country Outlet

LA’s Mount Wilson Broadcasting has switched from Standards to Contemporary Country on its 540 AM signal. The move comes two months after KZLA-FM switched from Country to the Movin’ format. The new station, 540 Country, is currently running without announcers. That changes on October 28th, when jocks including former KZLA personalities Whitney Allen, Brian Douglas, come aboard.

Station owner Saul Levine commented, "When KZLA went off the air, a lot of people wrote to us and said we were their only hope since we're the last independent station owner in the area." He added, "Country on KZLA left town because it wasn't making $40 to $50 million a year. We'll be happy with a fraction of that."
