Sirius Ad Sales To Provide 2nd River Of Revenue MarketWatch reports that following Howard Stern's satellite radio debut this week, Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin told investors that the company is ramping up its advertising sales force to generate "a second stream of revenue" for the subscription-based service.
Speaking during the annual Citigroup Media, Entertainment & Telecommunications Conference in Phoenix, Karmazin said Sirius is moving beyond the local advertisers who were the predominant buyers of ad time on Stern's Infinity Broadcasting program. Rather, he said, the company is targeting national advertisers.
Karmazin feels that Sirius is likely to exceed its goal of advertising comprising 10% of overall revenue, but he stopped short of officially forecasting such an outlook.
