Clear Channel To Install Audemat-Aztec RDS Generators Clear Channel Radio will work with Audemat-Aztec to install dynamic RDS generators across the country. The technology will enable Clear Channel to enhance current radio broadcasts by scrolling the artist name and title playing on the air, station call letters, traffic information and other locally focused messages for immediate display on listeners’ radios. Clear Channel has committed to the largest roll out across the United States by launching the technology on 192 of its FM stations in the top 50 markets by the end of November. Clear Channel CEO John Hogan remarked. “Clear Channel Radio’s financial and manpower commitment to this initiative is strong evidence of the company’s ongoing effort to provide more and better options for our listeners.” Senior VP/Engineering Jeff Littlejohn noted, “Clear Channel is always searching for new ways to enhance our radio broadcasts to bring listeners the most comprehensive, local entertainment and information. We’re excited to be the first company to introduce this innovative twist to an existing technology. The dynamic RDS technology gives Clear Channel the edge in providing radio listeners with even more information about the station, songs on the air and other important messages.” Audemat-Aztec VP/Business Development Christophe Poulain added, “As more cars are equipped with RDS, we’ve seen a steady increase in interest for this technology. Audemat-Aztec has worked with the RDS forum since 1987 to improve the technology and we’re proud to be a world leader in RDS generator manufacturing. We’re also excited to work with Clear Channel -- given their leadership in the radio industry.” Audemat-Aztec’s FMB80 communicates with automation software through its serial or Ethernet-TCP/IP ports to send song and artist information and station messages. The IP addressable feature allows radio operators to make changes from anywhere, keeping information displayed relevant and local.
