Atom Smashers To Mornings At KHMX-FM Houston

CBS RADIO Houston today announced the Atom Smasher Show will take over mornings starting on Monday, Jan. 6 on Mix 96.5 KHMX-FM. The show features Atom Smasher and Shawnda McNeal as co-hosts. Smasher and McNeal join CBS RADIO from South Central Media’s Hot 96FM in Evansville, IN. They have hosted morning drive for the station since 2009.

PD Bob Neumann said, “The Atom Smasher Show possesses all the winning qualities of a great morning show. We were drawn instantly to Atom and Shawnda’s chemistry and ability to create an entertaining program for an audience just beginning their day. The duo is a welcome addition to the station.”

Smasher, originally from south Louisiana, began his career in radio at age 16. After working in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, he moved to Houston in 1998, hosting nights on KRBE-FM. He was later promoted to afternoon drive host and eventually anchored the station’s lineup. In 2006, Smasher made the move to afternoons at KHKS 106.1 Kiss FM in Dallas.

McNeal has co-hosted morning radio for 10 years, working at KCLD-FM in St. Cloud, Minn. and Z-99 Mankato, Minn. She then moved to WNOU Radio Now 100.9 FM in Indianapolis before joining forces with Smasher.
