Detroit Gets A NASH Affiliate
Hoping to compete with CBS's powerhouse Country station WYCD, Cumulus is backing the NASH-FM truck into the City of Detroit. Late last week, Cumulus launched NASH FM 93.1 flipping a "Doug" format to Country. Cumulus will eventually have more than 60 owned-and-operated Country stations operating under the NASH brand.
Cumulus co-COO and Executive VP John Dickey said, “I couldn’t think of a better city to launch our NASH brand right now. Detroit is everything country music represents – made in America, for Americans, and authentically America. Country is hugely popular in Detroit and the surrounding communities, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring listeners and advertisers NASH FM 93.1.”

It really will be interesting to see if the NASH brand works up against a strong local Country leader in the D. Don't bet on it winning. Bob & Tom owned the mornings in our market until we put a solid, local morning show together. It took two rating periods to end that run.
