Kiryn And Najera Join Journal In Wichita
Penny Kiryk will be an anchor and reporter for KFDI-FM News. Sergio Devora-Najera joins Radio Lobo 106.5-FM (KYQQ-FM), joining the station as on-air host. KFDI Ops Manager Justin Case said, “Penny’s enthusiasm for news is palpable. We are happy to have her join our team and continue the outstanding tradition of service to the community at KFDI.” Radio Lobo PD Arnoldo Gonzales said, “Sergio has strong ties throughout the community and a broad base of experience to draw upon in serving Wichita’s Hispanic listeners. We are excited to bring such a respected professional into the Radio Lobo family."
Kiryk received her degree at Western Academy Broadcasting College in Saskatchewan, Canada, and was the main reporter for the Courier Newspaper in Cold Lake, Alberta, early in her career. She worked for several Canadian broadcast companies and served as a news anchor and morning co-host for six years at Canadian radio station 800 CHAB. She also has a sales and marketing background, having worked as a marketing consultant for several broadcast companies and as a marketing manager for a large international log home company.
Born in Miguel Auza, Zacatecas, Mexico, Devora-Najera graduated from Wichita High School in 2005 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University. He joined Wichita’s Tiempos newspaper in January 2005 and was promoted to editor, then joined Azteca America Television’s magazine program, Al Día con Sabor Latino, as anchor, sports director, news director, and director of programming. In 2006, he joined FIESTA 92.7 (currently 99.7 FM) and, in 2012, joined the Air Force. Currently he is the editor-at-large of the Spanish newspaper El Sol de Wichita.
