Sileo Fired Again. Getting Death Threats
Sports Talker Dan Sileo is living proof that once you send something out on social media you can never take it back. Sileo was let go by Jim Crytal's WMEN-AM after tweeting a $1,000 bounty for University of Miami player that takes out Florida State running back Devonta Freeman. Sileo played football for the University of Miami. When Radio Ink contacted Sileo last night about the tweet, he said it was a joke and he didn't mean it. Joke or not, once its out there, you can't get it back and Sileo is out of a job once again. Sileo also lost on-air radio jobs in Tampa and Miami. He says he and his daughter are now both getting death threats.
Here's what Sileo posted on his Facebook page:
I want to first start this letter off by saying..We thank 640 AM SPORTS for having us on the station the last few months..was VERY COOL!!....With that...640 and myself are parting ways over a TWEET I made about an FSU player who I thought was DISRESPECTING the UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI...It was a moment of emotion when I said I would like to pay $1000 for anybody to take him out.....NOW....I NEVER thought ANYBODY would take that serious but they have...a MOUNTAIN of BACKLASH has come against 640 and my family...There are NOW DEATH THREATS against me and my family and I have hired a private COP to protect US....So we UNDERSTAND that some of U took my comment serious.....AGAIN....Was just an EX Player saying a feeling that was wrong....To FSU...we APOLOGIZE...NO WAY would I ever want a kid hurt.....GOOD LUCK TO 640 AND THE CANES!

There is an old saying "Live by the Sword die by the Sword."

This guy is a total football-meathead cliche and an egomaniac. I don't feel confident that this was a "joke." Whatever it was, it was a terrible thing for a grown man to say. So what if the kid dissed UM? It's a freakin game! Why so serious? I hope this cretin never ever gets on the airwaves again.

Guys talented - stupid comment but once again way overblown. Guy should have been sat for a week without pay not fired. Corp radio shoots first and ask questions later.

Even more proof that the ole saying "Sticks and Stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me." will never again be true. Things said online are forever. But even if they were not, saying such stupid things is bound to get you fired. THINK before hitting SEND......OK...I'm thinking.

Somehow Sileo always manages to make himself look like the victim. Dan...don't go away mad. Just go away!!!
