CBS Radio To Give More Than $170k to Children's Charity
CBS Radio, teaming with the CBS EcoMedia program, will offer financial support of more than $170,000 to feed children through the Blessings in a Backpack initiative. The organization works to ensure elementary school children who may otherwise go without meals are fed over the weekends. The partnership will feed more than 700 students in 12 communities during the 2013-2014 school year.
Support will come from part of CBS EcoMedia's program using ad dollars to fund community projects, working with nonprofit partners. CBS Radio stations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, and Philadelphia are among those participating.
CBS Radio SVP/Sales Sue McNamara said, "We are extremely proud of this initiative and thank our advertisers for stepping up in support of this very important cause. We know what a difference this can make for students to become more competent scholars, achieve better test results, and engage in active learning experiences and we are thrilled."
Blessings in a Backpack collects and packages backpacks full of food and distributes them on Fridays to children who qualify for the National School Lunch Program. The entire $170,000-plus donation from CBS Radio will go to feeding children.
