KSCO's Don Husing Dead At 71
Husing worked at KSCO in Santa Cruz for nearly 50 years as a reporter and anchor. A co-worker discovered his body at his home last Thursday. KSCO's Rosemary Chalmers, Husing's close friend and longtime on-air partner, told the Santa Cruz Sentinal Husing had diabetes and was taken with a flu-like illness a week ago.
KSCO owner Michael Zwerling says, "The best words that come to mind to describe Don are sweet, nice man -- terms typically used by nearly everyone who knew him. He worked at KSCO continuously through all of its three ownerships. I was a high school sophomore when Don first came to work at KSCO. He was enormously witty and always the first to come up with a GREAT, snappy pun that put smiles on all who heard him, on and off the radio. It will be much harder for KSCO to be as happy a place without Don."
