Clear Channel Albany Raises $626K

Clear Channel Communities, the community engagement brand of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, WGY, and 99.5 The River, raised over $626,000 for the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center during the annual Cares for Kids Radiothon. River PD Randy McCarten said, “This is a tremendous event to be a part of. We introduce some incredible kids to our listeners who embrace them with all their hearts and continue the miracles that happen daily at the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center through their overwhelming generosity.”

810 and 103-1 WGY, and 99.5 The River broadcast live for more than 30 hours from Albany Medical Center on May 2-3, to raise vital funds for the Children’s Hospital. The Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center is the only Children's Miracle Network-affiliated hospital in the Capital Region, providing programs and services to 25 counties in and around the Capital Region. The Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center treats all children regardless of their ability to pay. The Cares for Kids Radiothon first began in 1999 and continues to help raise funds for the thousands of sick and injured children treated at the hospital every year.

WGY PD Josh Everett said, “It takes a dedicated team of hospital and radio station volunteers to make the Radiothon a success, but the true heroes are the children and the families being helped by these efforts. Their courage and willingness to share sometimes difficult and painful experiences, along with the victories, is truly what compels others to give so generously.”
