Cumulus Launches Classic Hits in Ventura

Duncan Payton (pictured) will be the PD as the new station (KRRF-FM) launches with the Classic Hits format in Ventura County, CA. Payton will also serve as PD for CBS Sports Radio AM 1450 KVEN/Ventura.  His experience includes positions in Los Angeles (KOST/KPWR), Atlanta (WWVA), San Diego (KMYI/XHRM), Las Vegas (KMXB/KMZQ/KOAS/KVGS) and Santa Barbara (KRUZ).

Cumulus SVP/Programming Mike McVay said Were excited to have a programmer the caliber of Payton join Cumulus. He and I have history having worked together before. He is a star.

The station is currently playing 10,006 songs in a row from the 60s, 70s & 80s, featuring artists like: The Beatles, Chicago, Billy Joel, The Eagles, Earth, Wind & Fire, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Santana and Stevie Wonder. Eddie Money pushed the button to launch the station and the first song was his iconic Two Tickets to Paradise.

Duncan said Its an absolute pleasure to help bring Classic Hits 106.3 to Ventura County and to join the impressive company the Dickeys have built with Cumulus.  Reuniting with Mike McVay and getting to work with Dick Stadlen, Sommer Frisk, Chris Cox and the great team at Cumulus Ventura is a true pleasure, especially in such a beautiful place to live!
