Arbitron Says Radio Spots Are Being Heard

3-19-2013

Arbitron released its March RADAR Network Ratings and says nearly 180 million people 12 and over heard at least one network commercial per week during the survey period. That's 68 percent of the 12 plus population. Arbitron says in the 25-54 demo, 71.7 percent were reached and in the 18-49 demo 70.9 percent of the population heard at least one commercial. 46 networks are part of Arbitron's RADAR survey and nearly 396,000 people were sampled from January to December in 2012.

Even as Rod has said, pretty much, all that needs to be said, the request is still: Please define "heard" and "listen".

Did the spots attract attention?
Did the spots generate a useful, emotional response?
Did the spots antagonize or otherwise insult the audience?
Would the listener enjoy or even mind hearing the spots again?
Did the listener engage in actually listening or were the spots just more white noise in the background.
Does Arbitron even have a rat's behind clue about what they are doing?
Does radio intend to support this scam for all that much longer?
Otherwise..... what Rod sez.
