Cross-Ownership Decision Put On Hold

2-26-2013
Thanks to an upcoming study requested by the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council, the FCC has decided to delay its ruling on cross-ownership. FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said, "In this heavily litigated area, where a strong record is particularly important, I believe this is a sensible approach to moving forward and resolving the issues raised in this proceeding." The study, which will be conducted by BIA/Kelsey, will focus on the effects of cross-ownership rules on minority ownership and news-gathering, and is expected to take several weeks. The MMTC study will be added to the public record, followed by public input, then a commission vote.
