Chris Malone to Program WBZJ For Curtis

1-14-2013

Curtis Media Group says Chris Malone will program its new Urban Adult Contemporary station WBZJ-FM. Malone will move to Raleigh from Memphis where he's currently brand manager and afternoon driver at WQOX-FM in Memphis along with other responsibilities at Entercom's five-station cluster in Memphis.

Curtis Media President and COO Phil Zachary says, “Chris Malone has been on our radar for about two years. He’s smart, disciplined and clearly a radio junkie and workaholic. Chris will fit in perfectly with our corps of world-class program directors, and I’m confident he’ll make The New 96.9 an immediate ratings contender.”

The station launched January 3rd with the Steve Harvey Morning Show and continuous R&B the balance of the day. Keith Sweat’s “Sweat Hotel” will soon join for evenings, and Malone will host the afternoon show. Malone, who has spent his entire career in Memphis, says he’s looking forward to a fresh challenge. "The launch of 96.9 'BZJ creates an exciting opportunity to introduce a truly unique Urban AC product to the Raleigh-Durham market,” he remarked. “A lot of details have gone into the station's launch, and the future is very bright.
