Browne and Patterson Out at WOR

With Clear Channel coming in to take over at WOR in New York, changes are being made to the station. Both Dr. Joy Browne (pictured) and former New York Governor David Patterson have been let go. It looks as if Buckley Broadcasting CEO Joe Bilotta was told beforehand who Clear Channel would keep so he could take care of the employees before he left the building.

Clear Channel purchased the station from Buckley for $30 million earlier this year. Dr. Browne has been with WOR for nearly 15 years. Patterson had been doing a show for a little more than a year. Buckley Broadcasting CEO Joe Bilotta released the following statement: "The acquisition of WOR has officially closed. We thank our employees for their service over the years and wish them all the best in the future. We are providing our workers with a generous severance package, and Clear Channel will absorb a number of the station staff."
