Bean Returns Home After Donating Kidney

11-24-2012

Gene “Bean” Baxter of the "Kevin and Bean" morning show heard on CBS's KROQ in Los Angeles is back home after donating a kidney to Director of Engineering Scott Mason. Bean wrote on his blog that he never imagined all the feelings he would go through when he left his home to donate his kidney and when he returned after the experience.

Mason has been with the company since 1979 and this was his second kidney transplant. His first was in 1999.  On November 13, the Bean and Mason went to  to Cedars Sinai, one of four hospitals in the country that had the ability to match Mason's blood type to Bean’s blood type and give him the much needed organ.

Bean wrote, I am grateful for so many things. "I am so grateful for Scott Mason, my kidney recipient, for his inspirational bravery at not just surviving the past few years of dialysis and ill-health but doing it with grace and strength most of us would never find in that circumstance. And for Scott’s family, especially Mickey, Ted, and Robert for being so much fun to hang out in a hospital with before, during, and after the surgery."
