Brian Wilson Gone From Toledo Talker

11-12-2012

A search is on to replace Brian Wilson as Clear Channel in Toledo and Wilson (pictured) have "parted ways." Wilson was heard on News/Talk WSPD-AM for over seven years.  Wilson posted on his Facebook page, “I am glad to have had the opportunity to preach the gospel of freedom and liberty to Northwest Ohio. Wish I had the chance on the air to say thank you and good-bye to my listeners. I will continue to make every effort to spread the message of free markets and liberty.” The Toledo Blade reports some community officials are happy to see him go.

Former Mayor Carty Finkbeiner told the paper, “WSPD will not be hard-pressed to find someone who has a better wit, greater charm, and a far deeper knowledge base than Brian Wilson had. He was one of the most boring talk show hosts I ever had the opportunity to briefly listen to.” Wilson came under fire when he used the term “little monkeys” in reference to Toledo Public Schools students.

Thank God! I can finally listen to the afternoon show. Brian Wilson's stammering drove me nuts. He could not say three words without an "uh, er, doh".

Brian Wilson made a heck of a lot more sense than Mayor Finkbeiner or the sad excuse of a newspaper that quoted him have in recent memory. As a Toledo resident, I never felt Brian was insulting me when he referred to the collection of backward thinkers that are so common to this area. Best of luck to Brian.
