Sports Talker Fired Over Tweet

10-24-2012

Scott Torgeson no longer works for the ESPN radio affiliate (97.1 The Fan) in Columbus, Ohio. The station posted the following message on its Twitter page Wednesday afternoon: "Scott Torgerson is no longer employed by our company as of today. We appreciate his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors." It was a Twitter post that originally got Torgeson suspended and eventually fired.

Over a week ago Torgeson tweeted, "I wish Desmond Howard would get fired or die so I can watch Gameday again." Today he was officially fired by the station. Torgeson was co-host of the afternoon show "The Common Man & The Torg" on the ESPN affiliate in Columbus. Now the show is simply called "The Common Man," hosted by Mike Ricordati.
