Tom Langmyer Leaving WGN Chicago
WGN Radio VP/GM Tom Langmyer is leaving WGN in Chicago after a seven-year run. Following a meeting with WGN ownership Monday, Langmyer decided to step down. Tribune is exiting bankruptcy and will be handing over ownership to creditors soon. They are expected to sell off portions of the company. Langmyer has been at WGN since 2005 after spending 13 years with CBS.
Despite what's been written on the blogs in Chicago, we were told last night there was no dispute between Langmyer and Tribune and he was not pushed out. Here's the e-mail the Langmyer sent to his staff.
I wanted to let you know that I am leaving WGN Radio, effective today. I can't tell you how much I have appreciated the privilege of working with you. WGN is a very special place, and I'm very lucky to have spent nearly eight years as part of it! I wish you great success in the future and hope that we'll keep in touch.
Looking forward to new challenges ahead!
Best always -
Jeff Hill has been appointed interim GM.
