CRS Starts Rusty Walker Scholarship

CRS has started a scholarship program in the name of Country consultant Rusty Walker who passed away six months ago. The scholarships provide for an all-expenses-paid trip and attendance to CRS 2013, being held February 27 to March 1 in Nashville.

CRS Executive Director Bill Mayne tells Radio Ink, "The board had many ideas on how we could honor Rusty and this one shot to the top of the list. Rusty was such an advocate for the CRS experience, we felt sharing the experience with folks who hadn't had the opportunity would be a great way to honor our friend."

Applicants must go to and fill out an application with a paragraph explaining why he/she should be considered as a Rusty Walker Scholar. Eligible applicants must be a full-time radio station employee and a first time CRS attendee. Three individual scholarships will be awarded.

It's still hard to believe that Rusty is no longer with us. He truly has made a difference in our business. This is the perfect way to honor Rusty for his commitment to Country Radio. I hope you can do this more than once.
