Doug Stephan Still Going Strong

This month, Doug Stephan's Good Day, the second-longest-running syndicated talk radio show in the country, begins its 25th year on the air. Good Day is syndicated in 485 markets and Stephan says the show is "as relevant today as it was 25 years ago. The show's success and longevity is a testament to our ability to keep it fresh and fun while keeping our audience informed."

Every day for the next year, the show will feature clips offering a retrospective of the top news stories, songs, movies, and TV shows from the past 25 years. The celebration will culminate in October of 2013 with contests that will be coordinated with Good Day affiliates, enabling listeners from around the country to win trips and other prizes. The show will also be highlighting other companies and organizations celebrating their 25th anniversary along with Good Day.

It appears to me that stations pick up this show when they can't come up with anything else. The latest addition is WSMN-AM 1590 in Nashua, NH. They recently aired a pay-for-play program hosted by Jeff Santos in morning drive until Santos flamed out. The replacement? "Good Day" of course. If somebody shows up at WSMN's door with a check that clears, "Good Day" will become "Good Bye".
