Smiley Hits 60 Affiliates

Congratulations to Rickey Smiley. With the addition of eight new stations, the syndicated "Rickey Smiley Morning Show" has crossed the 60 affiliate mark. Syndication One President Gary Bernstein presented Smiley with a wrestling belt emblazoned with the number 60 and plaque signifying his accomplishment.

Smiley said, "This is a hallmark achievement for the entire Radio One Family, the morning show crew and staff, and myself. I sincerely thank everybody. We will stay steadfast on our journey towards 100 stations and more."

Cumulus SVP Programming Mike McVay said, "Rickey is a proven force in Urban radio. His track record in PPM is unprecedented, especially in a format that struggles with that ratings methodology. We are excited to add him to more of our stations!” Smiley has a weekly cume of over three million people, airing in almost 60 percent of the nation’s top African-American markets.

New affiliate markets include Cumulus owned WWWZ-Charleston, KKND-New Orleans, WEMX-Baton Rouge, KRRQ-Lafayette, as well as Tony Neal's WNOV-AM and FM in Milwaukee. Also included in the eight new stations is Williams Communications' WZZX-AM and WTXO-FM in Anniston, Alabama. This breaking news was celebrated at The Rickey Smiley Show TV ONE watching party for his new weekly TV series "The Rickey Smiley Show.”
