September Auto Sales Shine

Automotive sales continue to be the bright spot of the American economy. September sales were the best since 2008. The annualized rate of cars and light trucks is 14.94 million. Light-vehicle deliveries jumped 13% to 1.19 million in September. Toyota had the biggest gain in September, increasing sales by 42% over September 2011. Honda was up 31%. Chrysler has now had 30 consecutive months of gains, increasing 12%. General Motors rose 1.5 percent. Ford Motor slipped 0.2 percent. Nissan dropped 1.1 percent.
