Midwest Buys Radio Fargo-Moorhead

Midwest Communications, owned by Duke Wright (pictured) has agreed to buy the six-station Radio Fargo-Moorhead group, adding to its stable of 47 stations in five states. RFM President Jim Ingstad has owned the group, which includes top-rated Talker KFGO-AM, for the past six years. Midwest enters North Dakota with the deal.

Midwest Communications President Duke Wright said in a statement,  "We are a family-owned and -operated broadcast company with over 54 years in the radio business. We have had a long-term interest in getting involved in North Dakota radio, and we have family in Fargo. The Radio Fargo-Moorhead properties are among the top-rated facilities in the country. We are very excited about becoming involved with these great radio stations."

Ingstad said it's been "an honor the past six years to be part of the best broadcast team I've ever had the privilege to work with."

Jerry Johnson of Media Services Group’s Minneapolis office represented Radio Fargo-Moorhead in the deal. Along with KFGO-AM, Ingstad's group includes Top 40 WDAY-FM, Country KBVB-FM, Classic Hits KMJO-FM, Sports KVOX-AM, and Classic Rocker KRWK-FM. Midwest will begin operating the stations upon FCC approval of the transaction.
