Post Greg Kihn, KFOX To Debut New Sound

9-17-2012

With the departure of Greg Kihn as morning show host at KFOX in San Francisco, Entercom says former KFOG personality Annalisa will take over on September 24. The classic rock station also says it is expanding its music library, and adding a commercial-free, advertiser-sponsored music block every weekday from 9am-noon.

KFOX Program Director Garner Goin said, “Annalisa has been a radio icon in the Bay Area for over 16 years and she consistently had the highest-rated show on KFOG. Her enthusiasm, passion, and music knowledge will be a refreshing choice for morning drive in the Bay Area. We are equally excited about improving the listening experience for our audience, from our larger music library to a dedicated commercial-free music block every day.”

KFOX’s expanded music library brings a broader classic rock sound to the KFOX audience and will better reflect the Bay Area’s passion for a wider range of rock music. Along with the station’s core artists of Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and the Beatles, KFOX‘s playlist will now include artists from Pearl Jam to Nirvana to Bob Marley to Stevie Wonder.

Beginning September 24, KFOX’s lineup will feature:
·        5am – 9am – Annalisa
·        9am – 12pm – KFOX Commercial-Free Music Block
·        12pm – 3pm – Laurie Roberts
·        3pm to 7pm – Big Rick Stuart
·        7pm – midnight – Webster

Time to find a new morning station. With the firing of Greg Kihn and the new format change, guess it's time for me to make a change as well. You were loved KFOX, but not anymore.

I am pleased to hear that Annalisa is on KFOX. I've enjoyed her knowledge about music especially the bay area scene. I have to admit it feels weird to hear Annalisa on a station other than KFOG. Well I hope all you phenomenal human being have a great day!

The new format sucks. My morning commute is not the same with Greg Kihn. I am switching over to another station.

Have not listen to the radio in the mornings for a while and it was very disappointing to learn that the Greg Kinh show is now more. First Dave Morey, now Greg Kihn.

While I am glad they have Monalisa (and Big Rick Stewart), but the new format sucks. Same with KFOG, they have both lost their identity.

Back to the iPOD.

Frankly, I like the artists that have been added, but I detest that KFOX's format was changed.

There is always a risk when one tampers with an original formula in favor of expanding an audience. It almost never goes well. Remember Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football?

My only other question is what station still play "true classic rock" and only that?
