WOR - Bought For $22.5 Mil. Sold For $30 Mil.

8-19-2012

There's no doubt WOR-AM would have brought in a much bigger price during the heyday of crazy high prices -- however, when Rick Buckley was alive the station was never for sale. $30 million is nothing to sneeze at, but there were always rumors running rampant in New York City that Buckley was being offered a lot more. Clear Channel picked up its first NY City AM signal for the $30 million price tag, 23 years after Buckley purchased it for $22.5 million from RKO. Buckley CEO Joseph Bilotta told Radio Ink last week the price was fair and the Buckley family agreed to the sale. Clear Channel began its LMA last Wednesday.
