Auto Sales Forecast To Slow
In nearly every second quarter earnings call, what little growth radio companies reported could be, at least partly, attributed to automotive, a category that has always been good to radio. Executives have also warned the economy is spotty, even slowing in some parts of the country. Now we get word that auto sales are expected to slow as well and forecasters are lowering their expectations for the back half of this year and 2013.
According to Reuters, analyst Jeff Schuster of LMC Automotive tells Automotive News he now expects light-vehicles sales for 2012 to be 14.3 million and 15 million for 2013. That's 200,000 units per year less than he originally forecast. LMC was once a part of J.D. Power and Associates,
